This Holiday Inn is located right next to the Moana Surfrider Hotel in the center of Waikiki.

It’s a great spot just a block from the beach. However, the whole area is one big construction site, with a shopping mall and several new hotels being constructed just next door.

I had used free nights for my stay and was not charged a resort fee or any other additional fees. Check-in at 10AM was not an issue and the room was given to me right away.

The rooms are in typical Holiday Inn fashion but are older. The room size is good though and the bathroom/sink area is huge. The beds were way too soft – some of the softest mattresses I have been on. Those are NOT my favorite.

The internet was pretty stable and was clocking in at 3 Mbit.

Although Waikiki was super busy during my stay, the pool was almost always pretty empty – in fact we had it to ourselves one late afternoon. The pool is decent enough and is in an area is overlooking the busy Kalakaua Ave in downtown Waikiki.

I did not have breakfast at the hotel but my favorite (for the high quality coffee, not for the atmosphere) Waikiki coffee shop Honolulu Coffee is literally just on the other side of the street.

Room rates for the hotel are typically around $200 a night which is expensive but on par with what chain hotels charge now in Waikiki all year.

The Holiday Inn delivers a value product for a chain hotel and is a decent option in Waikiki, though it will not wow you. Given how things are in Waikiki right now the hotel will either close for a remodel soon or will be re-flagged and remodeled by 2018.
