What’s the deal with the Southwest Airlines credit card?
The Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Premier card is back with a sign-up bonus of 50,000 points after you spend just $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months.
We last posted about this great card in June. 50,000 points is an excellent bonus and if you are successful in your application you are nearly halfway towards earning a free Companion Pass status that’s valid for the rest of the current year and all of the following year.
The card has a $99 annual fee (not waived) and earns you 2 points per dollar spent on Southwest Airlines and Rapid Rewards hotel and car rental partner purchases and 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases. As well as the sign-up bonus points you earn 6,000 bonus points after your cardmember anniversary, whereas in the recent past it was just 3,000 points.
You earn unlimited points that don’t expire, there are no blackout dates or seat restrictions when you redeem with points and no change fees, your bags fly free and there are no foreign transaction fees. What’s not to love?
How do I get the Southwest Airlines credit card deal?
What else do I need to know about the Southwest Airlines credit card deal?
Chase is pretty generous about repeat bonuses, so don’t let it put you off applying if you’ve had one of these cards in the past, as you can still get the new bonus offer as long as you have not received a new cardmember bonus for the product in the past two years.
