Tell me more about the 15th anniversary celebrations…
On Monday and just prior to the anniversary over the weekend, airline members around the world joined in the celebrations.
Delta passengers flying on the DL16 from Sydney to Los Angeles on Sunday enjoyed an anniversary breakfast in the SkyTeam Exclusive Lounge, including special meals, drinks and cakes, as well as giveaways.
Airlines such as Air France and KLM wrote blog birthday messages, while others like China Eastern Airlines took to Facebook and Saudia Airlines baked a cake and showed it on Twitter to spread the anniversary love.
Some alliance members spent time together, reflecting on the past and outlining strategic focus areas for the next few years. Aeromexico, Air France, Alitalia, Czech Airlines, Delta, KLM and Korean Air all pledged to work together on key initiatives.
Plus SkyTeam CEOs and other leaders gathered for this special photo opportunity in Miami to celebrate the anniversary:
What else do I need to know about SkyTeam?
In March this year, the alliance was named ‘Airline Alliance of the Year’ in the 2015 Air Transport News awards. These yearly awards acknowledge performance across a broad cross-section of the aviation industry. Readers of Air Transport News vote for the category award finalists and the winners are decided by a panel of industry experts.
This global alliance has proved a worthy winner, and as part of its 15th anniversary celebrations has pledged its ongoing loyalty to its customers.
