30x is back on United MileagePlus

mileageplus-magazines is back with 30x miles when going through MileagePlus Shopping.

Airline Credit Cards

In the past, I have made use of this deal. I bought a gift card first and then used it again for buying books (there are no more books available anymore on, though). I later sold these books (at a loss) on‘s Marketplace.

Please note these terms & conditions: Not eligible on automatically renewed subscriptions. Not eligible on purchases made with coupon or discount codes that are not found on this site. Orders cancelled within 90 days are not eligible.

You can still buy gift cards, but it’s not clear if you can still ‘double dip’ (i.e. get 60x) for ordering magazine subscriptions.

The only paper magazine I still read is The Economist – let’s see how this is priced.

That is $122 for a yearly subscription (about $2.39 per issue, for 51 issues).

You will receive 3,660 United MileagePlus miles with the subscription – that’s not a horrible deal. However, it is not good enough to just go wild and buy subscriptions for everyone. If you can double dip, though, with for 60x, then you’d buy ~7,000 miles for $122 which is an OK deal.

Who would like to try first?
