WHAT’S THE SCOOP?
Upon logging out, gt_croz read a statement that Citi Identity Monitor was being discontinued on March 31st 2015 and that once the program was terminated, members would no longer be charged a fee and would no longer receive any program services. In addition, Citi Identity Monitor would no longer monitor activity on credit bureau files or notify members of any key changes.
The discontinuation happened as expected, and when you now try to log in, Citi Identity Monitor shows the above picture, stating that the program has now ended for good.
If you need to contact Citi Identity Monitor about a recent alert, call 1-866-279-9637 Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. ET or Saturday, 9 a.m – 6 p.m. ET.
If you activated Identity Monitor online prior to cancellation, you can still log in here through 4/30/2015 to check recent unread monitoring alerts.
At $8.95 to $12.95 per month in recent times (or even as low as $4.95 per month by special promotion), Citi Identity Monitor was reasonably priced for Citibank members and was even provided for free for Citi Platinum American Express cardholders.
Reviews show that the program was well-received, thought of as priced well and was an excellent way to monitor your credit and stay protected against ID theft.
SO WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
If you now require an alternative to Citi Identity Monitor and happen to be a Costco member, then check out our review of Costco Identity Guard Total Protection, as the promotional price is still $9.99 per month for Costco Executive members, while Gold Star & Business members pay $13.49 per month.
Total Protection offers you multiple protection layers against identity theft, credit monitoring including access to your credit report with scores from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, computer protection and ID theft insurance. Plus the fact that Costco members save 50% on the monthly price is a big draw.
