What are the world’s cheapest destinations in 2015?
Even if we fly with miles and points (almost for free), what are the world's cheapest destinations in 2015? Where are hotels/rent and overall travel expenses incl. food the lowest once you arrive (in case you'd like to not use points for hotels)?
Table of Contents
Under $75 per day
These countries provide great value for your money:
– Cambodia
– Vietnam
– Morocco (plus there are very cheap Ryanair flights from Europe to get there – e.g. for as little as $20 AI from Weeze in Germany and London)
– Georgia
– Romania
– Bulgaria
– Northern Thailand
– Indonesia (outside of Bali)
– Tunisia
Under $100 per day
– Somewhat surprisingly, the Maldives provide great value for your $100 budget if you stay local
– Off-season Greece and Portugal can be great value
– Colombia, Argentina, Mexico and Sri Lanka can be great value outside the big cities
– India and the Philippines are great value if you can stand the prevailing chaos
Destinations that are quickly becoming cheaper
– Russia (at 70-80 roubles a dollar it is good value, though the rouble is back to 60 for now)
– Japan can be great value again with the weaker yen (Okinawa hotels are now under $50 in the off-season; Kyoto hotels for under $100 during main cherry blossom season)
It is always a good idea to set up a weekly Google Alert for 'currency crisis' and 'bank bailout' – those are usually the countries you'd like to add to your list of destinations in the next 12 months.
