I played around with AirFrance/KLM Flying Blue a bit today and discovered some interesting awards that are all bookable online through

As we all know, Flying Blue is best for economy class redemptions. It is an American Express 1:1 transfer partner. The online booking interface is great and throws few errors.

Almost overlooked, but Flying Blue has cheap awards (like Avios on Alaska) with Delta to anywhere in the US mainland.

Flying in Africa can be very expensive, but thankfully there is Flying Blue and Kenya Airways.

A one-way to the Comoros costs a staggering $500 – or just 17,500 miles:

A flight from Tanzania to Kenya costs just 7,500 miles one-way:

Sao Paulo to Chengdu, China:

Sao Paulo to Melbourne, Australia:

Sao Paulo to Madagascar (TNR):

Sao Paulo to Tahiti (PPT):

In Europe, you can make use of the huge Europe zone that stretches all the way from the Canary Islands (much closer to Dakar, Senegal than mainland Europe) and go eastwards as far as Russia's Novosibirsk.

It won't be boring with 100,000 Flying Blue points…
