Since I changed my travel plans a bit (I initially considered going to Teheran on this trip) I had some extra nights in Abu Dhabi. One of them I chose to spend in the Abu Dhabi Downtown.
The hotel is located a couple of blocks back from The Corniche, together with a number of chain hotels like Crowne Plaza and Ramada and is in a 20-floor high-rise. Few taxi drivers know about it - it seems it hasn't been open for too long.
Rates were about $250- or 20,000 IHG Rewards Club points. I chose to redeem my points since I can't seem to find any hotels at PointBreaks that ever fit my travel plans.
I arrived at noon and a room was ready for me. Check-in was plagued by the usual paperwork and delays.
The room was smallish but brand new. The furniture was new and efficient. The bed was firm - one of the best I had during this trip!
The internet worked but was slow - it was capped at 1Mbit - way too slow for most things.
Since the temperatures were in the 80s instead of 100s, most of the Abu Dhabi Downtown was walkable from the hotel.
This is a good hotel for a quick trip to Abu Dhabi Downtown e.g.on business. The hotel is less luxurious which I found to be a good thing - fewer people in my way on the way to my room :)
