I'm really in love with contemporary art and if I can can get my eyes on more modern art in a museum, I'm game.

While I have been to Los Angeles many times, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (or LACMA) has escaped me for some time. It comes well-rated on Foursquare and TripAdvisor and I thought I'd give it a shot.

The museum looks impressive and can't be missed from the road. Parking is readily available for $12 in the garage (though the neighborhood allows 2 hour free parking). The entrance fee is $15 which isn't cheap but my expectations were high for some great artwork.

Unfortunately there isn't a lot of contemporary art in the museum :( Most art is older than 50 years - in fact many paintings date back to the 16th century. Just about half a floor is dominated by about two dozen contemporary art installations.

The museum is well-managed and the building itself is beautiful. For fans of contemporary art it is a bit of a letdown and 60 minutes later you ask yourself - was it worth it? I'd say no.
