A number of oneworld partner airlines feature a comprehensive premium economy product:
– Cathay Pacific Premium Economy
– JAL Premium Economy
– British Airways Premium Economy
– Qantas Premium Economy
– LAN Premium Economy
If you have AAdvantage miles, you may be wondering if you can book a premium economy set on these oneworld partners using your miles?
Unfortunately the answer is NO. So far, American Airlines seems not to believe in premium economy and you can't book those using AAdvantage miles.
However, you can book premium economy using British Airways Avios. It is usually just 30% more Avios compared to the price of an economy redemption.
This can be a great deal when redeeming on LAN Premium Economy for mid-range destinations. LAN has no fuel surcharges. The flight from Miami to Lima will cost just 12,500 Avios in economy and 16,500 in premium economy (25,000 in business class).
Also, LAN availability seems to always bounce between two extremes – just a couple of weeks ago, I could find 4 economy seats for almost any day and any route. Right now I have trouble finding ANY economy, premium economy or business seats to ANY US destination. Let's hope this will bounce back!
