My love for eastern Javanese food is still fresh. Bumbu Desa Resto in Yogykarta gave me a new experience of Sundanese (western Javanese) cuisine and they delivered on their promise of warmth and hospitality as well as great food.
Sundanese food is mainly based on sources of protein – chicken and fish – as well as raw or cooked vegetables that are often barbecued and cooked in an array of spicy sauces. To me, they don't seem to be as spicy as Thai food. I tasted spice and some fresh sweet and salty flavors at Bumbu Desa.
This is precisely the food I love and in my opinion it loosely resembles some Mexican food in terms of food items, but not in taste. I ate more than I should but truly enjoyed the delicious and inexpensive dishes. One of the best places to eat in town!
