Starwood to extend the expiration of Suite Upgrade certificates until April 30th

Starwood has just announced that the validity of suite upgrade certificates has been extended until the end of April each year.

Take your suite time. We're extending your Suite Night Awards expiration date to April 30, 2014.

It looks like you've redeemed a few of your Suite Night Awards™ but missed out a few times too – that's why we'd like to give you more time. Now your Awards that were due to expire on December 31, 2013, won't expire until April 30, 2014.

Here's a quick refresher: A Suite Night Award is a room upgrade confirmed within five days of arrival. Suites, junior suites and premium-view rooms are all upgrade options. Don't forget, you can use your Awards anytime during paid stays, Free Night Award stays and Cash & Points stays.

Thanks for staying with SPG – it'll be suite to see you again.

I have been striving for the 10 night suite upgrades last year (and just about made it to 50 nights on December 31st!). 50 nights can be a lot but I seem to be able to do this most easily with Starwood thanks to their fairly priced international properties.

Almost all suite upgrades that I have added worked out for me and some international properties have fantastic looking suites. I was just upgraded last night to a nicely looking suite at the Tambo del Inka Resort in Peru.

I'm also writing this entry from a massive suite at the Sheraton Lima that I got after a super slow check-in yesterday.

So I will strive for 50 nights by the end of December with Starwood again. I may get the same amount with Hilton this year – let's see.
