I make it no secret that Hyatt is by far my favorite hotel company. Although they have one of the smaller footprints throughout the world, I've almost always enjoyed my stays at their line of brands from the efficient Hyatt Places to their ultra-luxurious Park Hyatt hotels. Having diamond status with Hyatt has provided me countless free breakfasts, upgrades, late check outs, additional bonus points, amenities and a wealth of other benefits. They truly know how to take care of their loyal customers.
So whenever Hyatt releases promotions offering additional points, I'm all over it. In this case, the new Endless Possibilities promotion is interesting in that it offers you a choice. The promo is set up that you get a free night every five nights you stay between January 15 and April 30, 2014, you're given the choice of additional bonus points OR one free stay at any Hyatt property that's a category 1-4.
If you want maximal flexibility and/or are going to stay 15-20 nights with Hyatt, I'd suggest taking the points. Category 4 properties are 15,000 points each, so four stays would be the equivalent of 60,000 bonus points. Admittedly, this is more than the 50,000 bonus points you'd earn. However, you'd be giving up a lot of flexibility if you wanted to stay two nights at a Category 7 hotel, or mix and match with categories. On the other hand, if you're barely stretching to get five nights under your belt during this promotion, I'd definitely suggest just getting the free night. In fact, this is what I'm going to do, and it'll be a nice supplement to the free night (also category 1-4) that I get for being a Chase Hyatt credit card holder.
Keep in mind that the stay from this promotion must be used by July 31, 2014. Sign ups start early next year so be on the look out!
