Introduction to JetAirways' JetPrivilege
JetAirways has a much underrated frequent flyer program called JetPrivilege. I believe it is underrated because it has a wide array of partners and generous 'hidden' award chart for short-haul flights.
The airline partners with major airline partners from Star Alliance and oneworld and several non-aligned airlines:
All Nippon Airlines
South African Airways
Now JetPrivilege has its award chart here. There are some treasures in it, like 20,000 miles within Australia (round-trip).
It gets better if you utilize the award mileage calculator ! It's a bit broken as many most major US airports are not listed. However, some are and I double-checked the validity of rates with the call center.
The short hop from Chicago, IL (ORD) to Toronto, ON (YYZ) is just 2,500 JPMiles (one-way). Cash tickets close to departure often cost $1,000++ for the single journey!
I believe the 2,500 JPMiles are valid for all direct flights under 500 miles, but I haven't been able to verify that.
Remember that JetPrivilege partners with United Airlines and American Airlines, so you can use either as long as there is a seat available! I haven't validated the pricing for travel outside North America but the same rules may apply. Note that JetPrivilege charges fuel surcharges.
How to get JPMiles?
So how does one get 2,500 JPMiles?
JetAirways frequently runs promotions with 2,500 JPMiles just for signing up!
You can also purchase miles for 2.4 cents directly from JetAirways (the rate depends on foreign exchange rates).
How to redeem?
So once the sign-up bonus posts, are we ready to go? It's not that easy, unfortunately. JetAirways knows about flyertalk too 🙂
You will need to show two activities in your account. This can be anything that posts to your account and you will need to accumulate a total of 3,500 JPMiles at least once before you can redeem awards.
JetAirways has a fantastic program for short-haul, expensive flights in the US. Even if you need to purchase the miles, you will be able to 'purchase' a ticket for ~$56 +taxes/fees. This can be very helpful on some short, costly flights booked at short notice. Combined with the sign-up bonus, this is an outstanding offer.
My thanks to reader Tom who alerted me to this opportunity.
