Easy Points: 5,000 – 10,000 Membership Rewards Points for Enrolling in the Extended Payment Option from American Express
If you have either the business or personal versions of any American Express charge card, that is an American Express Platinum Card, an American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card or an American Express Green Card, you may be able to register for the Extended Payment Option that is a feature of the cards and get yourself some easy and free Membership Rewards points.
You can find out if you are eligible for the offer simply by clicking the following links. If you are eligible, you will receive 10,000 Membership Rewards points for registering your American Express Platinum Card and 5,000 Membership Rewards points for registering your American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card or American Express Green Card.
The Finer Points:
The terms of the offer state that the bonus Membership Rewards points are available to Cardmembers who have received a communication directly from American Express about the offer and that you can only receive the bonus once per card. However, you can potentially receive the bonus on each different card type, so if you have multiple charge cards with American Express you could really plump up your Membership Rewards balance with a few easy clicks.
It is definitely worth checking your inbox and spam folders to see if you have received the offer and even if you haven't, try your luck by clicking through the links to see if you are offered the bonus points for registering. I clicked through for both my personal Platinum and business Gold card but was not offered the bonus, though Miles Momma reports that she was offered the bonus without receiving direct communication about it from American Express.
What is the Extended Payment Option?
The Extended Payment Option gives you extra time to pay for eligible purchases of $100 or more, though if you enroll in the feature you are not obligated to use it and I strongly urge you not to, since it makes the most financial sense to pay off your credit cards each month. But for 5,000 to 10,000 Membership Rewards points per card, adding the feature and letting it lay dormant is well worth it.
What if I am not Offered the Bonus?
I don't recommend enrolling for the Extended Payment Option if you try the links and find you are not eligible to receive the bonus. This is because you may be targeted later in the year for the same or a similar offer if you are not already enrolled in the program.
I do recommend bookmarking this page and the landing pages of the offers themselves if you are not eligible at this time. That way you can come back to them and check your eligibility while you still hold cards able to be enrolled or if you apply and are approved for cards that can be enrolled in the program.
What Makes Membership Rewards so Great?
Membership Rewards points can be redeemed in many ways, which gives you fantastic flexibility and now that transfer partner ANA is not charging fuel surcharges for awards redeemed for United or US Airways flights, as reported by Dan's Deals, Membership Rewards points have become an even bigger asset in your miles and points arsenal.
If you're looking to increase your Membership Rewards balance or start a collection Membership Rewards points the best current offers are:

HT to Miles Momma for bringing the Extended Payment Option bonuses to our attention.
