A must see destination if you liked Skyfall the latest James Bond movie

So apparently the island form the latest James Bond movie Skyfall does exist in reality!

It is called Hashima island just off the coast from Nagasaki.

From the Wikipedia entry:

The island was populated from 1887 to 1974 as a coal mining facility. The island's most notable features are the abandoned and undisturbed concrete apartment buildings and the surrounding sea wall.

As of April 22, 2009, the island is open once again for public visits, with Yamasa Kaiun providing transportation to the island from Nagasaki.

Apparently Skyfall wasn't filmed but the islands 'look & feel' have been recreated in teh studios.

I have never been to Nagasaki but that's great inspiration to finally make it to the far southwest of Japan. NGS airport is covered by ANA, Korean, China Eastern and Japans new discount airline Peach. Plus of course on can ride Shinkansen via Fukuoka.
